I had heard you numerous occasions on AM 740 Radio on the Earl Warren show (my favourite radio station) talking about Hicks Furs in Hamilton and now that we have met, you are just the kind of person that I imagined... a knowledgeable and talented business woman with a heart who genuinely cares about her clients.You greeted my girlfriend and I personally at the door and gave us all the time and attention that was needed to make the decision to restyle my fur into a garment that would be suitable for my lifestyle and at the same time preserve the memories and a part of family history of a grand lady that I dearly loved and respected".

Before her passing in 1998, she made it known that I was to be given her fur coat and hat. Every time I wore it I felt the love Ema had always shown me. It was never more more evident then on an evening several years ago when I attended a prestigious awards dinner. I felt wrapped in her warmth and knew she would have been very proud of my achievements. It was like having her with me.

Since then circumstances have prevented me from wearing a full length fur coat and matching hat, and I have truly missed having Ema close to me. Now that I am moving to the Maritimes, it was a perfect time to seek you out, and see what could be done. I am very pleased that I chose the 3/4 coat style that will be lined and cuffed with the fur from Ema's coat and I can see that her hat will compliment and complete the garment.

I will be able to wear this casual but dressy coat everyday through cold and stormy winters. I also appreciated the fact that her name which was embroidered in her coat will be removed intact and put on the inside of mine.

I can't think of a better way to keep Ema close. Now, every time I wear the new coat, it will be like getting a big hug from someone I dearly loved.

Thanks again for presenting this unique opportunity to retrieve the wonderful memories I shared with my mother-in-law. Can't wait to see the finished product in June and look forward to meeting with you once again. The only difference this time is that it will be friend to friend.

Hope all is well with you and you had a good summer. I wish you could have seen the expression on my nieces faces, the smiles and tears when I gave them the poem and the bears in Cochrane, they just could not believe them and said they could hug the bears and think of their Mom whenever they wanted to. I took pictures and hope they come out.

Sherrie: I saw one of your teddy bears made from an old mink coat. The bear had such a sassy face, I loved it. Could a bear be made from a fur jacket, the body of the jacket is raccoon and the sleeves and front trim are blue fox? What size would the bear be and what is the cost. I would bring the jacket from Toronto.
